I step up to instruction of my students with a deep understanding of the content and also of their skills and knowledge level. I carefully craft a path through the content with their experience in mind.
As a Rebbe of students with learning disabilities, I was confronted with the reality that the typical shiur formula of 'read, translate, explain, assess', did not work for my students. They needed me to be more understanding of the learning process, more creative and thoughtful about navigating it, and more attentive to who they were.
The approach and material I present here are a reflection of that (never-ending) quest.
All students can learn when provided with meaningful, relevant, and appropriate opportunities to do so.
I am passionate about facilitating those opportunities in my own classroom and in others’.
